David Gilmour spendet Auktionserlös an Umweltrechtsorganisation ClientEarth
David Gilmour überraschte gestern abends mit einer persönlichen Videobotschaft! Einen Tag vor der Versteigerung seiner Gitarrensammlung bei Christie’s in New York, erklärte er wohin der Erlös aus der Auktion gehen soll!
I am pleased to announce that all the proceeds from the #GilmourGuitars Sale at Christie’s in New York tomorrow will be donated to the charity ClientEarth.
The global climate crisis is the greatest challenge that humanity will ever face, and we are within a few years of the effects of global warming being irreversible. As Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish climate activist said in a speech earlier this year, “Either we choose to go on as a civilisation, or we don’t”. The choice really is that simple, and I hope that the sale of these guitars will help ClientEarth in their cause to use the law to bring about real change.
We need a civilised world that goes on for all our grandchildren and beyond in which these guitars can be played and songs can be sung.

Die schöne Melodie am Ende seiner Botschaft spielt Gilmour auf der von Chuck Sanzone von Hand gemachten Gitarre, die ihm Polly zum Geburtstag schenkte! Chuck freute sich riesig darüber, als ich ihm empfahl sich Gilmour’s Botschaft anzusehen!

Vielleicht hat ihn seine kleine Enkeltochter inspiriert zu dieser Entscheidung. Er hat sie auf dem Arm, lacht mit ihr, nimmt an ihrer frühkindlichen Entwicklung teil und ist um ihre Zukunft besorgt.
Sicher hätte es viele andere Möglichkeiten gegeben Gutes zu tun, David will dazu beitragen uns allen unsere Umwelt zu erhalten. Tolle Geste!

Also die schöne Melodie am Ende: toll. Und genau so simpel, wie es immer war. Millionen von Gitarristen können das Spielen – aber diese Wirkung erzielt nur DG. Vielleicht erinnert sich noch der eine oder ander an das Weihnachtsgeschenk kurz vor der Veröffentlichung von OAI? Da kam auch einfach unverhofft was um die Ecke.
