Im Laufe seiner Karriere hat David Gilmour bei einer Vielzahl musikalischer Projekte außerhalb seiner Band Pink Floyd mitgewirkt. Dabei waren nicht nur seine Talente als Gitarrist gefragt. Danke!!! So eine Liste habe ich schon lange gesucht. Einige Gastauftritte waren mir bekannt aber von vielen bin ich echt überrascht (Grace Jones z.B.). Richtig klasse ist dass dabei steht auf welchen Songs Gilmour zu hören ist. Da habe ich bei Boys And Girls lange gerätselt 🙂

Ja, die “Elizium” von den Fields wurde zumindest partiell im Astoria eingespielt bzw. gemixt. Diverse Fachmagazine waren/sind der Meinung, dass Wright und Gilmour hier auch direkt mitwirkten und zwar als nicht ausgewiesene Gastmusiker. Teile des Albums lassen dies auch durchaus vermuten; wäre der Gesang nicht, könnte man meinen, es seien Demos von Wright und Gilmour, die soundmäßig wohl am ehesten zur AMLOR-Phase passen. Ob sie nun wirklich mitspielten, kann selbst im Internet nicht 1000%ig herausgefunden werden und dass zwei (?) der Mitglieder von den Fields mit Nachnamen nun auch Wright heißen, dürfte zusätzliche Verwirrung gestiftet haben. Dennoch: so manche Soli klingen schon seeeeehr nach Gilmour und die Keyboardlandschaften sind zumindest nicht Wright-fern. Also: AMLOR-Fans sollten hier mal reinhören…
Ein tolles Album! So viel ich weiß spielt Jon Carin darauf! Andy Jackson im Astoria an den Reglern! Aber Gilmour spielt darauf nicht (soweit man das sagen kann)! Vielleicht hat er während der Session aber mal vorbei gesehen!
Richtig, Jon Carin hab ich vergessen… der (+ Andy Jackson) ist auch mit dabei… wie gesagt: es gab/gibt da verschiedenste Meinungen (u.a. von einem Magazin, welches du sicherlich nicht mehr so magst), die da behaupten, es wären Floydies mit von der Partie. Ich hab mir die Platte dann mal irgendwann gekauft, zum einen, um mir einen Eindruck zu verschaffen, ob es denn sein könnte (wie gesagt: so einige Soli sind nah an Gilmours Werk) und zum anderen auch, weil ich Gothic/Wave/(Postpunk)-Sachen nicht abgeneigt bin, wenngleich mir Platten aus den FRÜHEN 80ern noch deutlich besser gefallen. Trotzdem: respektables Album mit vielen langen Klanggebilden, die nicht besonders weit weg von Pink Floyd sind und sogar (zumindest) im PF-Umfeld produziert wurden… ich kann es nur wiederholen – wer AMLOR mag, darf “Elizium” ruhig mal eine Chance geben!!

Danke sehr. Hab mir gleich alles gesucht und angehört. Das er mit Bryan Ferry was gemacht hatte wußte ich, aber Welthits wie Slave to Love und Kiss and Tell, war mir nicht bekannt. Der Mann ist einfach Spitze. Mir persönlich gefällt No More Lonely Nights am besten.

Zuerst die Anmerkung: Auf dem Valid Path Album von Alan Parsons spielt David nur auf dem ersten Song Gitarre “Return to Tunguska”.
Nun die Frage:
Kann mir jemand sagen wer bei “Windswept” auf dem Boys And Girls Album von Bryan Ferry die Gitarre insbesondere das Solo spielt? In den Credits stehen 6 Gitarristen u.a. Mark Knopfler.

Ich habe mir die “Deep End” Scheibe von Pete Townshend besorgt, mit einer DVD der Show als “Beigabe”. Gilmour spielt Gitarre. Auf der DVD gibts eine schöne Version von “Blue Light”, mit einem Percussions-Battle von Jodie Linscott. Erwähnenswert ist noch Chucho Merchan am Bass, der ja auch auf der “Meltdown” -DVD zu sehen ist. Wer es unbedingt haben muss, muss sich beeilen, es gibt wohl nicht mehr viele DVD.
Eigentlich Schade, das DeepEnd Projekt hätte es verdient gehabt, mehr zu zeigen.
Ich hab das damals im WDR Rockpalast gesehen, und war völlig hin und weg. Eigentlich wollte ich das nur wegen Gilmour gucken, dann sah ich zum ersten mal bewusst Simon Phillips an den Drums. Ein super energetisches Konzert. Zu der Zeit kam dann auch Tommy von den WHO als Livealbum raus, quasi die gleiche Band, nur ohne Gilmour und mit den noch lebenden WHO… ich möchte die Verdienste von Keith Moon nicht schmälern, aber Simon’s Drums haben mich völlig gepackt.
Vielleicht hab ich es in der Liste oder den Kommentaren übersehen, aber DG hat noch auf dem Album “Muddy Waters Blues” von Paul Rodgers aus dem Jahr 1993 mit dem Titel “standing around crying” mitgewirkt.
