Hiroshi Sugimoto über sein U2 Album-Cover

U2 veröffentlichten vor wenigen Wochen ihr neues Album “No Line on the Horizon”. Das Cover stammt vom japanischen Fotokünstler Hiroshi Sugimoto. Bono wollte, dass er dafür den Bodensee ablichtet. In einem Interview für die Japan Times erzählt Sugimoto wie es dazu kam und erwähnt nebenbei, dass er mit U2´s Musik weniger vertraut war: “I was part of the Beatles generation. I still have Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ playing in my car!”

Auf dem aktuellen Album finden wir noch zwei weitere kleine Verbindungen zu Pink Floyd. Caroline Dale spielt Cello und im Booklet bedankt sich U2 u. a. auch bei Bob Ezrin. In einem aktuellen Rolling Stone Interview meinte Bono: “We have a soundtrack/Pink Floyd side of our band, and it has to be balanced by fine songwriting.”
