Schöne Bescherung: Pink Floyd spenden 16.500 Britische Pfund an Obdachlosenhilfe.

22.12.2006 UPDATE: Musikmarkt: London - Zwei Werbefiguren in Form von riesigen Augäpfeln, von Pink Floyd gespendet, haben 16.500 Britische Pfund für die Obdachlosenhilfe "Crisis" eingebracht. Die Requisiten wurden zur Vermarktung der "Pulse"-DVD von Pink Floyd genutzt und bei Ebay versteigert, berichtet BBC.

Ein Sprecher der caritativen Einrichtung sagte, man sei "außer sich vor Freude über die Spende." "Das ist das ultimative Weihnachtsgeschenk für den glücklichen Pink Floyd-Fan, und es wird eine immense Veränderung für das Leben der Obdachlosen zu dieser Weihnachtszeit und auch im neuen Jahr bringen", fügt Tom Sessions von "Crisis" hinzu.

"Crisis" wird zwischen dem 23. und 30. Dezember sieben Zentren in London eröffnen, die Obdachlosen und Menschen, die gefährdet sind obdachlos zu werden, Zugang zu Kameradschaften, Dienstleistungen, Weiterbildungsmöglichkeiten und Unterhaltungsprogrammen verschaffen sollen.

13.12.2006: Wer noch ein passendes Weihnachtsgeschenk für einen Pink Floyd Fan oder zur Dekoration seiner Wohnräume sucht könnte mit den Pulse Augäpfel, das richtige gefunden haben.

Musikexpress: Die beiden gigantischen Augäpfel, die auf dem Cover der PULSE-DVD von Pink Floyd zu sehen sind, werden ab heute bis zum 20. Dezember auf eBay versteigert. Die guten Stücke haben einen Durchmesser von knapp zwei Metern und wurden von der Band handsigniert. Die Einnahme aus der Versteigerung gehen direkt an die Obdachlosen Organisation Crisis deren Vizepräsident David Gilmour ist. Hier geht´s zur Versteigerung. Das momentane Höchstgebot steht bei 4.000 britischen Pfund (Stand 14.12. 13 Uhr).

Hier die Original Beschreibung: Pink Floyd has donated two signed giant eyeballs to Crisis to auction off. We have chosen eBAY to sell them on so we can reach as many true Pink Floyd fans as possible.

David Gilmour, of Pink Floyd, who is a well known supporter of the work of Crisis, commented that, “The eBay auction will not only raise much needed funds for the charity but will also raise awareness of the plight of the homeless at a time of year when they are most vulnerable.”

The eyeballs, approx six feet high, have been signed by all members of the band and are famous for featuring on the front cover of the band’s latest DVD, ‘Pulse’ and were used as stage props on the recent press screening for the DVD. The Pulse DVD features the one and only filmed appearance of their legendary album ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’.

Several pairs of eyeballs were specially commissioned by EMI Records to promote the release of Pink Floyd’s Pulse DVD but only three pairs were autographed by band members and art director Storm Thorgerson. EMI with Pink Floyd have kindly agreed to donate this signed pair to Crisis to raise much needed funds. We have an official Certificate of Authenticity for the eyeballs which are three feet in diameter and mount on to a free standing floor stand.
