Nick Mason über Musikspiele.

10.09.09: Nick Mason der Anfang der Woche Schlagzeug spielte in den Abbey Road Studios für ein Benefizprojekt der BBC, wurde dabei nach seiner Meinung über Musikvideospiele gefragt. Aus aktuellem Anlass, denn am 9.9.9 wurde das Videospiel "The Beatles: Rockband" veröffentlicht. Solche Spiele erfreuen sich immer größerer Beliebtheit. Nick Mason auf die Frage ob seine Kinder auch solche Spiele kennen?

"Es ärgert mich, wenn ich meinen Kindern dabei [Musikspiele] zusehen muss. Wenn sie mit dem Üben der Gitarre auch soviel Zeit verbringen würden, wie mit dem Lernen vom richtigen "Knöpfedrücken", wären sie jetzt verdammt gut.”

Und Mason scheint dafür Interesse zu haben und schloss ein solches Videospiel über Pink Floyd in der Zukunft nicht aus. "I think we'd consider it. I think everyone's looking at new ways of selling the music because the business of selling records has almost disappeared. I'm of the old guard who are really sad about that, because I always liked the concept of the album - rather than just cherry-picking tracks - and also the business of the art work that went with it."

 

Auf die Frage ob es den von Pink Floyd neues Material geben könnte antwortete er auf seine britische Art: "very unlikely". Er fügte hinzu, das Pink Floyd noch an ihrem Katalog interessiert seien und wenn notwendig auch tontechnische Überarbeitungen daran zulassen werden. Außerdem überlegt man sich, was man noch damit machen könnte. Sie sind noch sehr stolz auf ihr Werk und gelegentlich redet man auch miteinander.

"We're all still interested in the catalogue and trying to make the most of it, re-mastering when necessary, and looking at other things that we could do with it. I think we're all still very proud of it - we do talk to each other occasionally."
