Pink Floyd The Wall 1980/1981 Show-Identification

Viele von uns sammelten früher einmal begeistert Pink Floyd Konzerte auf Musikkassetten. Das war eine kostengünstige Alternative zu den teuren Vinyl-Bootlegs. Jahrelang tauschte ich auf diese Weise mit anderen Sammlern Kassetten. Besonders gefragt waren die 31 The Wall Konzerte 1980/1981. Wir hatten lange Listen von unseren „Tapes“, die wir untereinander immer austauschten, das alles schickten wir per Postweg hin und her, man wollte immer am neuesten Stand sein. Wichtig war immer die wievielte Generation der Kopie man besitzt. Aufgrund der logischerweise immer gleichen Setliste bei The Wall und der fast auf die Sekunde gleichlang gespielten Songs, wusste man nicht immer ob es sich bei dem Konzert, das auf der Kassetten stand, auch tatsächlich um dieses handelte!

Young Lust & Run Like Hell

Eine große Hilfe zur Beurteilung, ob man auch das richtige Konzert erhalten hatte, waren die Ansagen von Roger Waters. Seine Ansprachen halfen enorm dabei, die Konzerte zu unterscheiden, sie zu identifizieren und zuzuordnen. Waters sprach vor Young Lust und Run Like Hell zum Publikum. Ian Russell (In The Flesh Co-Autor) hat vor vielen Jahren Waters Ansagen zusammengefasst und den Konzerten zugeordnet.

Waters schimpfte in seiner Rolle als Diktator teils heftig. So bezeichnete er den Journalisten Alan Jones vom Melody Maker, der einen negativen Konzertbericht über The Wall schrieb, namentlich als Stupid Shit.

Das Konzert musste wegen eines Feuers auf der Bühne während “Empty Spaces” abgebrochen werden.

  1. Es brennt auf der Bühne.

ROGER WATERS: Hold it!…whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop the film. We’ve uh, we’ve decided that the best thing would be to put this fire that we have up here out. We’ll scroll back to the beginning of that bit then and we will carry on when everything is under control. I’m sorry but that’s the best thing to do, so just be patient. If we can have the house lights, that would be good.

Auch bei diesem Konzert gab es technische Probleme, die die Floyd zwingen eine etwas ausgedehntere Instrumentalpassage vor “Goodbye Cruel World” zu spielen. Diese Passage wurde auf diversen Bootlegs (Little Black Book with my Poems in) als “Almost Gone” bezeichnet. Später dann offiziell als The Last Few Bricks betitelt.

    sind das deine Kassettenregale, du Wahnsinniger?
    Die Konzerte nur durch Rogers Ansagen zu unterscheiden, weil musikalisch immer gleich. warum hast du dir dann die mühe gemacht dir alle zu kopieren? es hätte diese cd gereicht: “Roger Waters: Flickering Fireworks Vol. 1, The Angry Years”
    da sind nur die ansagen drauf 😉

      Sag, was machst du eigentlich mit den Tapes, digitalisierst du viele davon?

    Das schöne am Tape- Tauschen war ja, dass man die Aufnahmen viel häufiger gehört hat als heute. Nämlich mindestens beim kopieren. Die digitalen Sachen legt man ja ziemlich schnell zur Seite, wenn sie einem nicht gefallen, manche habe ich noch überhaupt gar nicht durchgehört. Da es viel leichter geworden ist, an Aufnahmen zu kommen, weiß man sie auch gar nicht mehr richtig zu schätzen. Geht mir jedenfalls so. Bei den Tapes war es ein viel größerer Aufwand, an die Konzerte zu kommen, die man gerne haben wollte, man mußte ja schließlich immer etwas zum Tausch anbieten können. Das war dann natürlich eine ganz andere Vorfreude, wenn man Tage oder Wochen auf ein Päckchen Kassetten gewartet hat -wie Weihnachten. Heute findet man eine Aufnahme im Netz und 15 Minuten später hat man sie auf der Festplatte. Der Qualitätsgewinn gleicht’s allerdings wieder aus.

      @ Oliver, ganz genau – wir haben früher die Aufnahmen der Tapes auch wirklich angehört, nicht einfach nur gesammelt damit die Liste wieder etwas länger wird!

      Und wie hat man sich auf das Päckchen mit neuen Tapes gefreut!! 🙂

    @werner: ja, ich habe alles digitalisiert und bin so gut wie durch. die kisten mit all den maxell und tdk tapes stehen im keller.

    @oliver: stimmt. der aufwand war ungleich höher und die portokosten waren astronomisch;-) aber die vor-freude auf die neuen aufnahmen und das öffnen der post, das briefeschreiben, das überspielen….herrlich…..tja, so war´s. ich habe noch alle alten briefe von damals. ordnerweise.

      Ich auch. Und die Listen. Wie war man stolz, wenn die eigene Liste länger und länger wurde… Irgendwann war es dann ein Katalog;-)
      Von Dir habe ich keine, Tom, aber Du spielst ja auch in einer anderen Liga.
