In den späten 70er-Jahren bis hin zu den frühen 90ern veranstaltete Amnesty International UK immer wieder Benefiz-Shows. Hierzu wurden die Creme de la Creme der englischen Comiker und Musiker eingeladen, zugunsten Amnesty International aufzutreten. Diese Shows nannten sich “The Secret Policeman's Ball”.
