A DAY AT THE RACES.

Friday morning the 14 of July we left very early around 5 for the gig at Magny-Cours. And good that we did it took us almost 12 hours over the 700 km to get there. We could see the stage & the area from far and it was huge like a Pink Floyd concert would be. After we finally found a place for the car we went in to one of the many entrances. We found a place some 50 m from the stage it was already almost impossible to come any closer.

Anyway I was happy with the view only dark clouds were all ready gathering above the concert ground.

And soon a thunder storm would break loose and it started to rain like mad. So we got wet for the first time of our 5 concerts ex Pink Floyd tour. Just before Roger Waters started his concert it got dry again and the concert started with a big bang In the flesh. The sound was awesome there were speakers everywhere it was very loud this gig!

We had perfect places to experience the full quadraphonic effect I lost my hearing during On The Run when the train past by The first half of this tour we like the most songs as Mother, Set the Controls, Have a cigar which I really like now  Roger sings it himself and off course Sheep.

In the second part Nick Mason joined him for Dark Side and all the encores so now there where 2 drummers on stage. Nick played the first solo of Time by his own like he would do in the old days loved it.

The last song off course was Comfortably numb I think he should not play this song There is only 1 who can play it as it should Roger has so many very good songs the end a concert with I would choose It’s a Miracle and after that maybe Two suns. But never the less it was a spectacle this song with flames 10 meter or more out of the top of the stage.

After the concert was a fire work and we tried to get back to the car this was not so easy I have no idea but I think there were.

More than 40.000 people at this concert. I still can’t believe it we saw the whole PF perform this year! in two parts but anyway!!

At 3 in the night i left for Locarno to see the last show of the RW tour so little sleep for me. More about that and 3 Gilmour concerts later.

Ferrari-Wohltätigkeiten in Magny-Cours
 

14.07.2006 F1Total.com Nicht nur Ferrari-Teamchef Jean Todt begeht in Magny-Cours sein 13-jähriges Ferrari-Jubiläum, im Vordergrund steht der einhundertste Jahrestag des Grand-Prix-Sports. "Es gibt verschiedene Veranstaltungen und Initiativen, um das zu feiern, und wir sind eine Partnerschaft mit den Organisatoren des Frankreich-Grand-Prix und dem ICM (Institute for Brain and Spinal Cord Disorders; Anm. d. Red.) eingegangen."

So ist Ferrari auch in Wohltätigkeitsveranstaltungen eingebunden. "Michael Schumacher und ich machen bei einer Lotterie mit, bei der eine Gitarre von Roger Waters, Gitarrist bei Pink Floyd, verlost wird", so Todt weiter. "Das findet am Freitagabend statt, da stellt auch das ICM seine Arbeit vor."

PRESSEKONFERENZ.

27.02.2006 Heute fand anlässlich des 100-jährigen Formel 1 Grand Prix Jubiläums eine Pressekonferenz bei der Roger Waters zu Gast war statt. Die Franzosen werden Mitte Juli in Magny-Cours ein Rennwochenende der Extraklasse präsentieren. Den neben dem Formel 1 Grand Prix, das am 16. Juli stattfindet wird Waters am 14. Juli auftreten. Bei diesem Konzert spielt er im zweiten Teil der Show "Dark Side of the Moon" komplett. Nick Mason wird am 14. Juli in Magny-Cours bei den "Dark Side of the Moon" tracks auftreten.

Nach betrachten der Pressekonferenz muss ich sagen, das das ganze eher peinlich war. Ein schlechter Moderator mit noch schlechteren Fragen. Dazu im Publikum geladene Pressevertreter mit schlechten englisch Sprachkenntnissen die wahrscheinlich aus dem Motorsportlager und nicht dem Musikbereich kamen. Einmalig dumme Fragen nach der Verbindung zwischen dem "Wizard of Oz" Film und "Dark Side of the Moon" gehörten genau so dazu wie: Was sind die Gemeinsamkeiten der Formel1 und Pink Floyd? Furchtbar. Das Waters das durchstand verwunderte mich. Er wollte wahrscheinlich dem neben ihn sitzenden Magny-Cours Vertreter nicht vergrämen.

Schließlich waren noch ein paar brauchbare Fragen dabei wie z.B.: wie seine Band aussehen wird. Waters verriet alle Namen bis auf den Leadgitarristen. Wie ich angenommen habe ist Chester Kamen 2006 nicht mehr dabei. Doyle Bramhall wird es auch nicht sein. Bin gespannt ob sich Waters für einen renommierten Gitarristen oder aber einen eher unbekannteren wie damals 1999 Doyle Bramhall entscheiden wird. Jon Carin spielt noch mit David Gilmour in der Royal Albert Hall um wenig später mit Waters in Lissabon aufzutreten. Eine Überraschung für mich ist der Name Ian Ritchie mit dem Waters 1987 gemeinsam an Radio Kaos gearbeitet hat. Er wird bei der Tour 2006 das Saxofon spielen.

20.02.2006 Wie ich bereits vor ein paar tagen angekündigt habe ist heute die Homepage "Roger Waters 2006" online gegangen. Dort wird  vollmundig ein gemeinsamer Auftritt von Roger Waters und Nick Mason angekündigt! Ich nehme an, das es sich um die offizielle Seite des französischen Konzertveranstalters handelt. Eine Roger Waters Pressekonferenz soll am 27. Februar um 11:00 stattfinden und live auf der Homepage übertragen werden. Weitere Features folgen ...

16.02.2006: Nick Mason spielt mit Roger Waters am 14.7.2006 in Frankreich Magny-Cours(?) "Dark Side of the Moon"! Sämtliche Informationen diesbezüglich sollen ab morgen auf der Homepage: www.rogerwaters2006.com beantwortet werden. Sie wird morgen früh online gehen. Am 27. März soll Roger Waters eine Pressekonferenz geben!
