11.10.2006: Seit 12 Wochen ist die Pulse DVD in den US Charts vertreten. Davon 11 Wochen auf Platz 1. Nur letzte Woche mußte sie kurz U2 und deren Zoo Tv - Live from Sydney weichen. Diese Woche steht sie schon wieder ganz oben. 

8x Platin gibt es dafür. Die Pulse DVD ist damit die dritterfolgreichste Musik-DVD in den USA nach Led Zeppelin und den Eagles.

24.07.2006: Die Nachfrage der Fans von Pink Floyd nach der grandiosen Doppel-DVD „Pulse“ reißt nicht ab. Nachdem bereits bei der Erstauslieferung die Platinmarke von 50.000 Einheiten überschritten wurde, ist das optisch wie tontechnisch beeindruckende Live-Dokument der letzten Tour der britischen Supergroup von 1994 nun direkt auf Platz 1 der Media-Control-Charts der bestverkauften Alben eingestiegen.

Zugleich ist „Pulse“ nach Robbie Williams’ „What We Did“ und Herbert Grönemeyers „Mensch-Live“ bereits die dritte Musik-DVD von EMI, die den ersten Platz der Albumcharts von Media Control erobert. Mittlerweile hat auch die 1995 erschienene CD „Pulse“ mit 500.000 verkauften Exemplaren Platinstatus erlangt.

Pink Floyd - Pulse DVD Outsells CD For The First Time In Australia

20.07.2006: Quelle: Undercover by Paul Cashmere. For the first time ever in Australia, the number one music DVD has outsold the number one CD. The battle of the week was between Muse and Pink Floyd. The Floyd DVD 'Pulse' has been one of the most anticipated releases since AC/DC's 'Family Jewels' and The Eagles 'Live From Melbourne' but had the luxury of being a year down the track for greater impact.

And it did …

Pink Floyd's 'Pulse sold more than 16,000 units in Australia last week compared to around 14,700 for Muse 'Black Holes and Revelations'. DVD sales rarely top 10,000 units in a single week in Australia with the average number one title normally achieving often around 3000. 'Pulse' captured Pink Floyd's 1994 Division Bell tour.

It featured the Floyd line-up of David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Nick Mason. The highlight of the disc is an entire performance of the 'Dark Side of the Moon'.

'PULSE' DVD debütiert auf Platz 1 in den USA.

19.07.2006: Pink Floyds Pulse DVD debütierte auf Platz 1 der DVD Charts in: Österreich, Deutschland, Belgien, Holland, Irland, Italien, Norwegen, England und den USA. In den USA verkaufte sich die Doppel DVD laut SoundScan in der ersten Woche 92.815 mal. Was wiederum das drittbeste Ergebnis in den USA überhaupt ist.

Pink Floyd's 'PULSE' DVD erhält Platin.

19.07.2006: Köln - Die Veröffentlichung der Doppel-DVD "Pulse" (EMI) der legendären Band Pink Floyd hat einen Verkaufsboom ausgelöst: Mit über 50.000 ausgelieferten Einheiten erreichte die Konzert-DVD in Deutschland auf Anhieb Platinstatus und landete direkt auf Platz eins der von Media Control ermittelten Trendcharts der bestverkauften Alben.

Die Faszination von Pink Floyd ist legendär: Ihr einzigartiger Reunion-Auftritt im letzten Jahr beim "Live 8"-Festival galt als Höhepunkt dieser Benefizveranstaltung und nährte einmal mehr die Hoffnung auf eine dauerhafte Wiedervereinigung.

"Pulse" wird jetzt schon von vielen Kritikern als absoluter Meilenstein im Gesamtwerk von Pink Floyd betrachtet, dokumentiert die DVD doch nicht nur die letzte Pink Floyd Tournee aus dem Jahr 1994, sondern enthält dabei auch die erste komplette Verfilmung des ebenso innovativen wie epochalen Albums "Dark Side Of The Moon". Eine traurige Nachricht für alle Pink-Floyd-Fans: Syd Barrett, Gründungsmitglied von Pink Floyd, ist heute im Alter von 60 Jahren an den Folgen seiner Diabetes-Erkrankung gestorben (www.musikmarkt.de berichtete).

Veröffentlichungstermin der Pulse DVD soll der 7. Juli sein! So steht es inzwischen auf der offizielle EMI Webseite. Amazon.de führt ebenfalls den 7. Juli als Verkaufsdatum. Beim Inhalt der DVD hat sich nichts mehr verändert.

DVDs Reveal 'Pulse' Of Pink Floyd, Gilmour.

18.05.2006: Am 16. Mai berichtete das Billboard Magazin über die Pulse DVD und die zukünftige Gilmour Royal Albert Hall 2006 DVD. Darin schreiben sie das die DVD am 27. Juni veröffentlicht werden soll. Möglicherweise handelt es sich auch nur um einen Nachdruck eines Berichtes vom April im Entertainment Magazins. Wie dem auch sei, seit wir mit so vielen Aktivitäten um Gilmour und Waters beschäftigt sind ist die Pulse DVD nicht mehr so wichtig. Bis vor ein paar Jahren war dies noch anders, als wir nur die Pulse DVD hatten. Hier der Billboard Bericht: 

Originally due last December, the Pink Floyd live DVD "Pulse" will now hit stores June 27 via Columbia. The project was originally released on home video in 1995 in conjunction with a double-disc CD set of the same name. The film chronicles the band's 1994 tour in support of the album "The Division Bell," which turned out to be its last.

The material here was taped during a 14-night run at London's Earl's Court and is highlighted by the first complete performance of the 1973 album "Dark Side of the Moon," which can be found on the second disc. The first disc features a blend of older hits ("Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2," "Learning To Fly") and material from "The Division Bell" ("Keep Talking," "Take It Back").

Among the bonus features are the back-screen stage projections used during the 1994 and 1987 tours, plus music videos for a host of "Division Bell" tracks, the off-stage documentary "Goodbye To Life As We Know It" and Floyd's performance of "Wish You Were Here" with Billy Corgan at its 1996 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Meanwhile, Pink Floyd guitarist/vocalist David Gilmour will tape a live DVD of his own during his May 29-30 stand at London's Royal Albert Hall. The project is expected to be out before the end of the year.

In addition, Gilmour's March 7 tour kickoff show at London's Mermaid Theatre will be screened tonight (May 16) in 100 U.S. movie theaters. For participating locations, visit www.BigScreenConcerts.com. 

27.04.2006: Schon länger wurde nichts mehr über dieses Thema geschrieben. David Gilmour erwähnte zuletzt bei einem Interview, das Hauptproblem für die Verzögerungen war, das der Originalfilm nur auf Videoband aufzeichnet wurde. Außerdem sagte er, das es jetzt eigentlich keinen Grund für weitere Verzögerungen mehr gibt. Die DVD sollte bis September im Handel erhältlich sein. Am 26. April erschien bei Entertainment ein kurzer Bericht über die Pulse DVD:

It's the DVD they've been promising for near on two years, but now Pink Floyd's 'Pulse' is just two months away.

After delays that saw the release date pushed back from December 2005 to August 2006, the double DVD is now scheduled for release on June 26.

Recorded during their 1994 world tour, the band's last, the Pulse DVD captures David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright in full swing — backed by the massive visual production synonymous with the band's live shows.

But, as witnessed during their appearance at Live8, The Floyd are equally renowned for their live musical performance and on the DVD finesse their way through songs from classic albums like 'The Wall' and 'Wish You Were Here' to selections from their latter-day outings 'A Momentary Lapse Of Reason' and 'The Division Bell'.

The second half of the show finds the band perform the classic 'Dark Side Of The Moon' in its entirety, much like former Floyd Roger Waters will be doing on his upcoming solo tour.

Apart from the entire concert filmed at London's Earl Court, with sound remastered into Dolby Digital 5.1 / 448 kbps and Dolby Digital 5.1 / 640kbps Surround Sound, bonus features include Storm Thorgerson's screen films projected during the concert, a documentary, photo gallery and some bootlegs.

A couple of music videos, tour information, and the band's Rock 'n Roll Hall Of Fame induction are also there.

03.01.2006: Im Februar scheint es nun ernst zu werden. EMI Germany hat den 24.2.2006 als Veröffentlichungstermin auf ihrer Homepage: www.capitolmusic.de/xml/1/1533/4914369.html. 

02.01.2006: Von unseren italienischen "Hey You" Freunden erfahren wir das man bei EMI Italien einen Pressefolder vorbereitet hat. Eine Abbildung davon ist bei "Hey You" zu betrachten. Interessant ist das bei der Inhaltsangabe die "The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Induction Zeremonie" 1996 und "Wish you were here" mit Billy Corgan aufgelistet wird. 

Nachdem Pulse ursprünglich am 5.12.2005 veröffentlicht werden sollte dann Woche um Woche schließlich auf den 16.1.2006 gewandert ist scheint nun auch ein viel späterer Termin möglich.

Laut Floydstuff hat EMI die Händler informiert, das die Pulse DVD auf einen bisher unbestimmten Termin 2006 verschoben wurde. Die Veröffentlichung könnte demnach im März / April oder gar noch später sein. Der mögliche Grund dafür könnte David Gilmours Album bzw. Tour im März 2006 sein. EMI könnte sich dadurch ein gesteigertes Medien Echo auf Pink Floyd erwarten. Das würde wahrscheinlich auch der Fall sein. Davon würden in Verkaufszahlen ausgedrückt sowohl Gilmours "On An Island", als auch die Pulse DVD profitieren. 

Aber derzeit weiß niemand so recht wann sie denn erscheinen wird. Bei Amazon England erhält man für die Pulse DVD zwei Termine. Einer für den 16.1., der andere für den 27.3.2006. Welcher stimmt den nun? Es bleibt weiterhin spannend und unterhaltend! Die Pulse DVD Saga bleibt unerreicht.  

17.11.2005: Die Pulse DVD Saga geht weiter. Nachdem wir es schon nicht mehr erwarten konnten, das wir uns zu Weihnachten vor dem Fernseher die Pulse DVD reinziehen wurde der Veröffentlichungstermin auf 2006 verschoben (Info: Matt Johns, Brain Damage)! Der neue Termin soll am Januar sein.

Verwirrung herrscht noch um den Menüpunkt: US Hall Of Fame "Wish you were here - Performance". Es gibt unterschiedliche Informationen diesbezüglich. Zuletzt hieß es, das dieser Auftritt nicht enthalten sein soll. Mich hat dieser Menüpunkt von Anfang an etwas verwundert. Hat der Auftritt doch wirklich nichts mit der 94er Tour zu tun. Natürlich würde ich es trotzdem gern in perfekter Qualität gesehen. Wenn er jetzt nicht drauf sein soll dann hat es vielleicht mit Nick Mason zu tun. Sieht man doch nur Wright, Gilmour und Billy Corgan auf der Bühne während Mason im Publikum sitzt. Warum er damals nicht aufgetreten ist, das wäre interessant zu wissen. Wenn dem so wäre muss Storm Thorgerson einiges ändern z.B. DVD Menü, Covertext usw.. Das nimmt einige Zeit in Anspruch. Es heißt also weiterhin: "Bitte warten". Auf der allerneuesten EMI Presse Verlautbarung ist "WYWH" Hall of Fame jedoch wieder enthalten: www.heyou.it/pulsecom.pdf Wahrscheinlich werde wir es erst dann wissen, wenn wir uns die DVD endlich anschauen können.

05.10.2005: Und schon berichtet das Rolling Stone Magazin auf seiner Homepage über das bevorstehende DVD Schmankerl!!

RS: 1994 begaben sich Pink Floyd auf ihre letzte gemeinsame Tournee, um das Album "Pulse" vorzustellen. Mehr als zehn Jahre später und pünktlich zu Weihnachten macht die Band ihren Fans nun das komplette Konzertprogramm nebst diversen Backstage-Aufnahmen und Extras als Doppel-DVD zugänglich. 

Die Filmaufnahmen entstanden an einem vierzehn Konzertabende im Londoner Earls Court. Das Konzert ist in zwei Hälften unterteilt. Die erste Hälfte besteht aus Klassikern wie „Shine On You Crazy Diamond“, „Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)“, „One Of These Days“ und „Keep Talking“, dargeboten von David Gilmour, Nick Mason und Richard Wright in bestechender Form. Die zweite Hälfte umfasst den Albumklassiker „The Dark Side Of The Moon“, der in ganzer Länge live gespielt wird, sowie als Zugaben Songs wie „Wish You Were Here“ und „Comfortably Numb“. 

Zu den unveröffentlichten Raritäten gehören „Bootlegging the Bootleggers“, Hintergrundaufnahmen, die einen Einblick in das Tourleben einer der weltweit größten Rockbands aller Zeiten geben, sowie eine Leinwandfassung von „Speak To Me“. "Pulse" wird am 2. Dezember in die Läden kommen.

Wie ich gerade von Charles Beterams (Floydstuff) erfahren habe wird die Pulse DVD am 5.Dezember 2005 veröffentlicht werden! Man mag es ja kaum glauben nach all diesen Jahren des Wartens aber dieses mal scheint es doch ziemlich gesichert zu sein. Den Floyds Label EMI hat heute ausgiebig über die Pulse DVD informiert. 28.03.2003: Es ist noch nicht klar ob es eine einfach oder Doppel-DVD werden wird. David Gilmour bevorzugt derzeit die Doppel-DVD Version. Wenn es dabei bleiben sollte dann werden etliche Extras auf den beiden DVD`s zu sehen sein. Diese Angaben schreibt Strom Thorgerson in seiner dritten Auflage von "Mind Over Matter", das seit kurzem im Handel erhältlich ist.
